There is, and has always been, debate over whether bottled water is actually worth the cost. Is the water cleaner? Is it safer to drink? Is it worth the money? These are just some of the questions that people ask when they try to determine whether buying in a bottle worth the cost.
Not much more than 10 years ago, just about everyone was drinking water from the tap. Now, we have the conception that drinking water from the tap is bad for your health. However, there are some tap water proponents who believe that it is actually better for your health than bottled water! For many, this doesn’t make much sense, but we will get to the bottom of that in this article.

The debate for water from a bottle stems from the idea that buying water will provide this safety backed by whatever brand created it. This seems reasonable — a normal person would trust Dasani more than a random water faucet. Also, with bottled water, you get the benefit of having your own bottle to go with your drink. Holding 16 ounces of this water is a lot easier then carrying 16 ounces of tap water. Where the sanitation comes into play is having a clean water bottle. Those who drink from the tap generally drink out of cups and glasses that may not be clean — especially those who reuse cups without washing after each use. By doing this, the drinker exposes himself to bacteria that can grow within the cup. This peace of mind will lead one to conclude that bottled water is safer than tap water.
Debate for Tap Water
The debate for water from the tap is centered around cost. Obviously, tap water is free. For those who regularly drink tap water, there is no point in paying for what is not broken. This makes even more sense when there are scientific reports that show that water from the tap is just as clean as from the bottle. Also, tap water offers the additional benefit of containing fluoride. Fluoride is good for your health — especially for the health of your teeth. Recently, bottle water companies have added fluoride to their offerings to equal the health benefits of tap water.
Debate for a Water Filter
The final option is to install a water filter on to your tap. By doing so, you can ensure that you will remove any debris that is coming from your tap. While, more likely than not, what is caught by the water filter won’t hurt you in any way, it is always nice to see that you are removing anything outside of water from your water.
Conclusion
There really isn’t any perfect answer to the question of which is better — from the tap or from the bottle. Those were cost-conscious may be more interested in drinking from the tap. That seems to be an okay option. Those looking for the convenience of a bottle for each container of water might lean more towards drinking from the bottled variety. Do your research and find out what the best option is for you.
